whispers 'hello, i miss you quite terribly'
I spotted a new crush today in second grade. One little boy L. was just annoying this little girl A. by sitting too close to her during Bible Story. This little girl is already old beyond her years, and whenever something strange happens in classes, or there's a joke no one else catches, she'll look at me. Does that make sense?
So, as this is going on, she keeps catching my eye thoughout the story and I keep asking L. to "find his own space". Later on when they are packing their backpacks he takes her shoes "because they're his". Then later he offers to help her put on her scarf. A. just looks at him like he's nuts.
I couldn't help but smile. I don't know if she's quite aware of why L.'s been paying so much attention to her lately.
Oh my goodnes! I just realized I already knew about this (and I bet A. does too)! Last week it was A.'s 1/2 birthday. On half birthdays a lot of the time the kids will only write half of each letter or half of a picture. L. wrote a message for A.
L - "Do you know what it says?"
A - "Yes, and it's not appropriate."
B - "That says 'I Love You'!"
A - "Yes, and that's not appropriate right now!"
Ah, second graders never fail to make me smile.

No, they tasted bad.
We had walked past them and she asked, "Are those real or fake?" I told her they were fake. Then she said, "I think they look real." So, I told her they were just for display and went to go look at my Emma dishes I love. A minute later she comes over and tells me, "Amber, those ARE real cookies." To which I told her, "Yeah, but they're just for display." "No, Amber they are REAL." And, she holds up a Fudge Stripe with a bite out of it. I couldn't yell at her because I was laughing too much.
